We do not have the resources to respond to individual enquiries from asylum seekers. If you are an LGBTQI+ person in need of protection, please contact the United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR) here
Rainbow Haven provides food and shelter to LGBTQI+ asylum seekers in Africa who are facing persecution while they go through the refugee process. They can use our safe houses until they get to a safe country.
Rainbow Haven takes the safety and confidentiality of asylum seekers seriously. We have strict protocols in place to protect their identities and ensure their security while staying at our shelter.
You can get involved by volunteering, donating, or raising awareness about LGBTQI+ asylum seekers’ issues. You can establish a group to manage and fund a new safe house. You could look after Facebook, Instagram, or X. You can research where to put a safe house and find local people to manage it. Reach out to us to learn more about opportunities to support our mission
Donations are used to cover the costs of providing food and shelter to LGBTQI+ asylum seekers, as well as other essential support services. We are an all-volunteer organization.
Rainbow Haven operates as a committee of the Anglican Church of St. John the Divine, Victoria (SJD). SJD is a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency. SJD will issue tax receipts for your donations.
